The Administration of the
Order for Baptism

"Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you" 1Cor. 11:2

¶ The Minister and those to be baptized shall assemble where there is sufficient water for full immersion.

¶ The Minister shall read the following verses.

Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. Luke 3:21-22

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matt. 28:19

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Acts 19:4

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:35-38

Jesus said, . . . I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11:25-26

Answer. Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.

¶ The Minister and those to be baptized shall then go down into the water.

¶ The Minister shall receive the believer, or the child under faith of at least one parent, and say.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

¶ The Minister shall then fully immerse the believer, saying,

Planted together in the likeness of his death.

¶ The Minister shall then raise the believer from his watery grave, saying,

We shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

¶ The Minister and all those baptized shall come up out of the water.

¶ The Minister shall then read from the following verses, as he sees fit.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. John 16:13

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments. Psa 133:1-2

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebr. 1:9

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John. Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:14-17

¶ The Minister and those baptized shall then kneel, the Minister praying and anointing them with olive oil.

¶ Then shall all rise and the Minister shall read from the following verses, commenting as he deems appropriate.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Rom. 8:26

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 1Cor. 14:15

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Ths. 5:23

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Jude 20

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:15-16

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom. 6:4

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. Mark 14:26

¶ The Minister shall announce a Hymn from the Book of Psalms and all present shall sing.

¶ Then shall the Minister lead all together present in the benediction.

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant. Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebr. 13:20 -21

¶ Here endeth the order for baptism.
