Make No Covenant

Eccl. 12:13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

What is it to fear God?

Prov. 1:7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Prov. 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

How important is “the knowledge of the holy?”

The apostle Paul tells us:

Phil. 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Phil. 3:9 ¶ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Phil. 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

The apostle Pauls burning live was “that I may know him.”

Psa. 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Preachers who fail to do and teach His commandments embrace an insipid, clouded world view and inadequate gospel. Their words may make you feel good, but in the end will you be delivered or will you suffer the wrath of God? I’m of the belief that all who follow such teachings as proceed from most modern pulpits are in for some rude awakenings.

Jesus taught:

Matt. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

There is no greatness to be experienced outside the laws and testimonies of our God, as Isaiah wrote:

Is. 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

No light? Surely the modern preachers such as Joel Oelsteen and John Hagee and Pat Robertson, etc., have SOME light, wouldn’t you say? Surely Isaiah overstated, when he said NO LIGHT? You must judge for yourself, friend. As for me and my house, I believe ALL light of nearly every establishment church has already become darkness. The candlesticks are gone out. The wicks of their lamps are dry of oil. They are foolish virgins. They are clouds without rain. Of their preachers, the Bible says:

Is. 56:10 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

All you have to do is look at their faces and hear their words. The fire of God has gone out of their lips. Their sermons no longer burn the chaff from the wheat. They no longer cut a hard line of truth. The Bible says:

Is. 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Now, for the kicker.

I’ve recently listened to some 35 or more sermons, addresses, interviews, etc., from Chuck Baldwin posted at chuckbaldwinlive.com. Over and over I have said Amen to these messages! This man has brought a dimension to the gospel that most other preachers abandoned long ago, that being the message of freedom and liberty, constitutional government, and resistance to tyranny. I like Chuck Baldwin. He founded and was for 35 years the pastor of Crossroad Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida. By contrast, go to Crossroad Baptist Church website now, search that site, and you will find not a single mention of their former Pastor. He has been purged. Apparently, they hate him, and want no association with his “hard line” message. Amazing. When Chuck Baldwin abandoned and repudiated the 501 C 3 status of that government baptist church, he became anathema. Praise God for his abandonment of the 501 C 3 government church status which many of us abandoned many years ago. Praise God for his stand against tyrannical government, and his stand for liberty and freedom, which many of us have so long neglected as one centrally important aspect of the gospel.

Yet has Chuck Baldwin returned to the Bible fully? And more fundamentally, does Liberty Fellowship, less than 1 year old, already embrace the seeds of it’s own self destruction? I believe so, unless Chuck Baldwin is able to say “yes and amen” to additional fundamental Bible truth, truth that I see as even more fundamental and radical than everything else he teaches for liberty and constitutionalism and resistance of ungodly government.

In 35 sermons I have heard no mention from Chuck Baldwin to “remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy,” as most of us do, in literal obedience to the 4th commandment. He teaches a Sunday church world view, originated by Roman Emperor Constantine 4th century with the Sunday Law proclamation . And he believes and teaches a pretrib rapture of the saints, a view most of us reject in favor of Christ’s return to this earth for his saints to rule and reign. It is my belief that I could still be in good fellowship, without conflict, since these differences do not diminish my freedom of conscience. I can keep the Sabbath personally with my family wherever I am located, and I am not forced to believe in the pre-trib rapture.

Recently I learned of other, more troubling issues. I learned that Liberty Fellowship has early on embraced the darkness of miscegenation (race mixing), a view abhorrent to the Bible and to the founding fathers of our nation. One older man there has made covenant vows with an oriental wife. Another man has two children from a black wife. Miscegenation and race mixing pose for me a great problem per Biblical law. To become a member of Liberty Fellowship, I would be forced (no freedom here) to embrace covenants God has forbidden in His Word. I would be forced to embrace black children in good fellowship, and have my little son do the same. There would be no way around it.

When the children of Israel came out of Egypt, God commanded:

Ex. 23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

Two things here. “make no covenant with them.” “nor with their gods.” The Bible is clear. No covenant is no covenant, with these peoples, nor with their gods. All preachers I’ve heard teach on this will agree with the last part. That is, all preachers will teach against the false doctrine of “covenanting” or embracing false gods. But NARRY A SINGLE ONE will reject making covenants “with them.”

Deut. 7:2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:

Twice in Holy Writ. A double witness. Marriage is the most fundamental covenant of all, and the Bible in a double witness condemn it. God does not approve of interracial marriage, and many great fundamental Baptist preachers also teach/taught against it (Dr. Jack Hyles, deceased; Dr. Bob Gray, etc.)

My message to you here today is the message of King David:

Psa. 119:45 ¶ And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts. Make no covenant.

Gal. 5:13 ¶ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Interracial marriage is an unnatural, unsanctioned, unBiblical union of the flesh of different races. The children of such unions are neither one nor the other. Race mixing produces “confusion of face” (see Ezra 9:7; Dan. 9:8 ). The Bible condemns such. The first marriage license issued by a state was a permit to do that which was previously illegal.

Of the projeny of such unions, the Bible states unequivacably:

Deut. 23:2 A bastard [4464. r´zVmAm mamzer, mam-zare´; from an unused root meaning to alienate; a mongrel, i.e. born of a Jewish father and a heathen mother:—bastard.] shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

For ever God has condemned race mixing. Make no covenant with them, the Bible says. The Bible is clear. What will we do about it? What did Israel’s ancient leaders do about it? We have Biblical case law on race mixing. In Babylon the captive Israelites had lost the law of Moses. After some 42,000 of these captives returned from Babylon to Jerusalem, under Ezra and Nehemiah, the law was FOUND. The result?

Neh. 8:9 ¶ . . . For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

Neh. 13:1 ¶ On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;

Make no covenant with them.

People, what had been lost during their 70 years of Babylonian captivity was now FOUND in Jerusalem. The law of Moses was rediscovered. The leaders spoke to the people the words of the law of Moses.

Ezra 7:6 This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given:

Neh. 8:1 ¶ And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.

Neh. 8:2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

Neh. 8:3 And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.

Are you this day “attentive unto the book of the law?”

Neh. 8:4 And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

Praise God for the fathers who stood with Ezra that day. For a great change was to take place as a result, which no one man could have accomplished.

Neh. 8:5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:

Neh. 8:6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

What was the end result of their being “attentive unto the book of the law?”

The Bible is specific as to precisely which law. It was the law of “make no covenant.” It was the law against interracial marriage. It’s a memorable day when leaders confess sin publicly!

Ezra 10:2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

Ezra 10:3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

Ezra 10:4 Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

Ezra 10:5 Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.

Ezra put the word out that all the men gather in Jerusalem, for purposes of implementing the matter, which took time.

Ezra 10:10 And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.

Ezra 10:11 Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

Ezra 10:12 Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

Ezra 10:14 Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.

Ezra 10:16 And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

Ezra 10:17 And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.

God blessed the strong leadership of Ezra with results:

Ezra 10:19 And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.

Next comes a list of all the male offenders.

Ezra 10:44 All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.

Nehemiah relates:

Neh. 13:22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.

Neh. 13:23 ¶ In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:

Neh. 13:24 And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.

Neh. 13:25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.

Neh. 13:26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.

Neh. 13:27 Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, t o transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?

Neh. 13:28 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.

Neh. 13:29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.

Neh. 13:30 Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;

Prophecy warns us at this very time:

Mal. 4:4 ¶ Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Mal. 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

Mal. 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Brothers and sisters, we must read and heed the moral law of Moses in all it’s aspects. We must not be caught up in the antinomian spirit of our age. We must not commit the sin of miscegenation, and if we have committed such sin, we must repent.

On 7 March 321, Constantine I, Rome's first Christian Emperor (see Constantine I and Christianity), decreed that Sunday would be observed as the Roman day of rest:
On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits; because it often happens that another day is not so suitable for grain-sowing or vine-planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.[11]

Anti-miscegenation laws, also known as miscegenation laws, were laws that enforced racial segregation at the level of marriage and intimate relationships by criminalizing interracial marriage and sometimes also sex between members of two different "races". Such laws were first introduced in North America from the late seventeenth century onwards by several of the Thirteen Colonies, and subsequently by many US states and US territories and remained in force in many US states until 1967. After the Second World War, an increasing number of states repealed their anti-miscegenation laws. In 1967, in Loving v. Virginia, the remaining anti-miscegenation laws were held to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States. Similar laws were also enforced in Nazi Germany as part of the Nuremberg laws, and in South Africa as part of the system of Apartheid. In the United States, interracial marriage, cohabitation and sex have been termed "miscegenation" since the term was coined in 1863.
